Vidya Shorts 1 Year Anniversary

Today marks the point that Vidya Shorts has been running for one whole year! Thanks to everyone for helping us get to where we are today. I created this website with the intention of having it run for a long while, but what I did not expect was to have such an awesome community and a really fun group of friends sprout from this endeavor. Without support from our streamers, mods, and viewers, none of this would have been possible (or nearly as fun!), and I hope we can keep going for many years to come.

Child's Play Charity Stream - SUCCESS

The charity run of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a great success, accumulating over $1,600 for the Child's Play charity fund, which provides games, movies, and toys to hospitalized children around the world. At first we set a modest goal of $500, but soon exceeded that goal only a few hours into the stream and had to bump it to $1,000. Again, our expectations were exceeded as many more gracious donations were made by viewers around the world. Of course, as the donations became greater, the game restrictions imposed upon the streamer, loldbz, were also increased, making for a very entertaining, and sometimes frustrating, stream. The entirety of the milestones achieved as more donations were received can be viewed here.

Thank you, everyone that participated in this event. It was a lot of fun, and together we were able to make a difference in the lives of others during the holidays. The amount of support for the event from viewers was tremendous and none of this would have been possible with out every one of you.

Vidya Shorts, New and Improved

Welcome to the new website design! Features found in the old site design have been made better and more visible, with many new features added as well:

We now have our own ticker for updates. This means we don't have to use the Livestream ticker anymore!
We now have our own custom player, which has several features of its own:

A "lights on/off" feature, which dims out the surrounding area of the player and chat
A link to VS Radio, powered by Synchtube
A larger "LIVE" indicator, which also indicates when the stream is offline. In addition, the current streamer is now indicated clearly at the top of the stream.

The Chat Rules button is now directly above chat.
Other menu buttons have been moved to the top of the page.

Chat has been made even in height to the player, but has also been made thinner. This allows for the player to be made larger by using space that was not often utilized in chat, as the average post length is quite short.

Coming Soon:

Stream and chat pop-out buttons
A clock set to Eastern Daylight Time (the time zone of scheduled streams)
Easy access to current viewer minutes (hover over the viewer count)
A Bump button above chat which will become active when a new thread is made for scheduled streams. Clicking this button will link directly to the active thread.
ShortStop section and associated functionalities

To hit off the new website, I will be streaming several new games throughout Thanksgiving break. We'll be playing Kirby's Epic Yarn, Sonic Colo(u)rs, and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Check the schedule for more information on dates and times.

Of course, with the increased activity of the site from my own streaming and, eventually, from Shortstop streamers, we can expect more traffic, so new mods have been appointed to keep everything in order. Please welcome CnRm, Ragga, and RedmageFoxx to the Vidya Shorts mod staff!

More site sections and features will be added as time goes on. In addition to general updates on the site and stream, I will post here any opportunities for you to get involved in the coming site changes, so check back here soon.

Finally, please send an email to iliketorofl.vs@gmail.com to thank him for his work on the site. He is our sole site programmer and has achieved amazing feats of modern coding in a short amount of time amidst an already busy schedule.
